President Jackson: Future Forward 2021-2026 Strategic Plan

February 15, 2021 - 7:00pm

When I think about our “Future Forward: 2021-2026 Strategic Plan,” I envision a mirror, one that allows us to reflect on why Cal Poly Humboldt is here, where we’ve been, who we are now, and who we want to be.

First and foremost we’re here for our students, to provide an accessible, high-quality education that cultivates a new generation of leaders who have the skills, knowledge, and resilience to address the most pressing issues facing the world today.

I see that commitment every day from our campus community who provide the kind of educational experiences that fosters the whole student, from practical, field-based research and student mentorship programs, to scholarship opportunities and health and wellbeing support.

For the University to continue these efforts, I asked the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and working groups to establish a model global community and to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion within its planning. The result is a “future forward” plan, one that articulates the University’s purpose, vision, values, and goals for each theme--all of which will guide our decision-making for years to come.

I invite you to read our strategic plan that was created with the assistance of hundreds of diverse voices on and beyond campus who shared their ideas for Humboldt’s future. I want to thank everyone who was involved in the planning process--your collaboration made this plan happen.

Remember, this is just the beginning. The campus will begin Phase 2 during the Spring ‘21 semester to develop institutional and divisional operational plans that include objectives, outcomes, and measures. What you’ll find here builds on our strong legacy and foundation while seeking to be bold, innovative, and sustainable as a campus community and as a University.

Sincerely,

Tom Jackson, Jr.
President
