HSU Strategic Plan

We are writing to provide a strategic planning update and to express our gratitude to everyone engaging with this process. Together we are making terrific progress and there is much to celebrate.

Dear campus community, 

With the successful completion of the first phase of Strategic Planning, we have launched the next two phases. 

The next phases of strategic planning are occurring within each division under the leadership of division teams. Strategic planning is moving forward as an initiative to integrate institutional assessment.

When I think about our “Future Forward: 2021-2026 Strategic Plan,” I envision a mirror, one that allows us to reflect on why Cal Poly Humboldt is here, where we’ve been, who we are now, and who we want to be.

First and foremost we’re here for our students, to provide an accessible, high-quality education that cultivates a new generation of leaders who have the skills, knowledge, and resilience to address the most pressing issues facing the world today. 

Cal Poly Humboldt announced a bold new vision in its “Future Forward: 2021-2026 Strategic Plan,” which outlines the University’s purpose, values, and goals for the next five years.

The plan articulates the University’s vision “to be a campus for those who seek, above all else, to improve the global human condition and our relationship with the environment.”

I have much appreciation and gratitude for the collective commitment and engagement with our Strategic Planning efforts, which have progressed even during the pandemic. From sharing innovative ideas to helping us gather important supporting data, you are helping to strengthen our foundation for our future.

Cal Poly Humboldt’s Strategic Plan is a blueprint of Humboldt’s vision and goals for the next five years. It’s a massive undertaking that hinges on ideas from many diverse voices — including yours.

Starting next week, join us for a series of virtual “Future Forward Forums.” This is a chance for members of the Humboldt and local community to provide feedback on key guiding questions for many of our themes. This feedback coupled with data will be a valuable resource in helping the working group shape the vision and strategic goals for each theme of the Strategic Plan.

For the last several weeks, creating a Strategic Plan has taken shape with working groups of members of the campus and local community identifying distinct themes:

Last spring, members of the campus community began creating Cal Poly Humboldt's Strategic Plan (2021-2026). Essential to the improvement and growth of Humboldt, this plan will articulate who we are as an institution now, what we want to work toward together, and who we want to be in five years.
