Two New Community Partnerships

Partnerships & Community
September 9, 2016
A number of new HSU events in Arcata, developed with community partners, are launching this fall.
- HSU Downtown includes four fun events that are free and exclusively for Humboldt State students. The goal is to get students to feel comfortable and connected with Arcata. there are two nights of DJs and dancing at the Arcata Theatre Lounge on Sept. 29 and Oct. 20, and two movie nights at the Minor Theatre on Oct. 5 and Nov. 16. HSU Downtown is sponsored by KSLG, which will help promote the events, and by Forever Humboldt (the Humboldt State Association).
- The My Favorite Lecture series is three talks by HSU professors at the Plaza Grill View Room. The goal is to provide an additional engagement opportunity for community members, who may not be able to get to campus or to see our professors in action. The talks are Sept. 8 (C.D. Hoyle), Oct. 13 (Ben Marschke), and Nov. 10 (Maral Attallah). These lectures will also be recorded and aired at a later date by KHSU. The series is sponsored by Arcata Main Street and KHSU, with additional support from a variety of downtown eateries.
