By focusing on the freshman experience, the “Re-Imagining the First Year” (RFY) initiative will help the University to make progress on Outcome 1.2 of the BluePrint (“Purposeful and coherent integration of academics and student life provides a Humboldt State experience that affords all students the same opportunity to succeed in meeting their baccalaureate goals”). The group has been expanded into a SuperTeam that includes student, staff, faculty, and administrative perspectives; its first steps have been to connect with AASCU resources to assist with implementation, followed by compiling, and beginning to examine, an initial inventory of first-year experiences and activities. These discussions will help the group to identify opportunities for removing obstacles that might derail student progress early on in their Humboldt careers.
